Products
We believe that different briquettes serve different purposes. Smaller round briquettes help to get the fire started and others will burn longer and put out heat over a considerable length of time. Some are better for stoves and others are better for open fires. In the end it depends on the purpose as there is no universal briquette as such. Compare building a fire with painting a wall. You wouldn't apply just one thick coat of paint but would use several layers after priming the wall to make the paint stick. The same principle applies to building a fire. It needs to be built in stages. Used in the right order our briquettes will give you lovely long lasting heat performance. See below the product specification and the purpose we think it serves best.
Wood Briquettes
It is essential for any stove or fire pit to warm up in order to work efficiently. Where a fire has to be built from scratch it needs to be done slowly and using these round Wood Briquettes with one or two Waxling Firelighters is ideal. Our Wood Briquettes are made from material such as old pallets, potato boxes and other packaging. This timber goes through a shredder to be milled down to fine chips. After the shredding process the wood fines have to be dried down to 6% wood moisture in order to be accepted by the press. They are then shaped into a briquette with an 80mm diameter and a length of about 130mm which gives them the look of a small log. The briquettes are very dense but the slightly ragged edges actually allow them to catch fire quickly. Our Wood Briquettes are a prime product made on a high powered press and are much denser than our old version which left quite a bit of dust in the bag. For that reason we have changed the manufacturing procedure and have achieved a briquette which is second to none. As a guideline one can expect a burn time of about 1—2 hours in a stove. These briquettes come in 15kg bags containing about 20 small logs.
Hardwood Blox
These briquettes are made purely from hardwood shavings and can last up to 3 hours in a stove.
Bark Blox
Bark Blox are the same shape and weight as our Fire Blox but are made from the bark of conifer trees. Their heat performance is similar to that of our Bark Logs but they are more economically priced.
Bark Logs
Bark logs are great for keeping a stove warm overnight or for any other time of the day when a slow burn of your wood fuel is paramount. These long lasting briquettes are made from the bark of European conifers. They are round in shape with a diameter of about 90mm. Each log weighs around 2kg. The Bark Logs are ideal for stoves where they can generate heat for up to 10 hours according to customer feedback and our own test results. In order to achieve this, the air vents of the stove should to be closed after the Bark Log has been burning for about 20—30 minutes. Bark Logs can be broken up into smaller pieces to fit into smaller stoves. Each pack contains 5 Bark Logs with a pack weight of 10kg.
"Very happy with the Bark Logs. Just what we were after and much better slow burn properties. Lasted through the night in the stove."
– M. Quinlan, Stirling.
Waxlings
Our fantastic waxling firelighters are made from wood wool which has been soaked in beeswax and candle wax. This is a 100% natural product with a much longer combustion time than conventional firelighters. Waxlings also leave your hands free of unpleasant smells after contact. With an average burning time of about 10 minutes, Waxlings are ideal for lighting up our Wood Briquettes in order to get the fire on its way. As a side effect they look very decorative and are frequently bought as a gift. Each bag contains 40 Waxlings and weighs 500g.
Sample pack
For those of you who'd like to try our products before placing an order, our sample pack contains 1 Bark Log, 3 Fire Blox, 5 Wood Briquettes, and 3 Waxlings.
